9 regionals winners to play National Club Champs

The Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa (VCASA) are pleased to announce that the 2021/22 season will culminate in a National Club Champion tournament in East London next year.

Executive Committee member and Chairperson of the Border Veterans Cricket Association Eugene Adams said that the tournament, which will feature the winners of the nine respective Over-40 regional leagues, will be played at venues throughout East London, with the final being held at Buffalo Park.

The tournament has yet to find a sponsor, but each club will have their own local sponsor. Professional Lawn Equipment has also agreed to sponsor a professional GG 25-inch cylinder mower worth R25 000 to the winning club.

Guy Williams, Managing Director of Professional Lawn Equipment, said that his company is very supportive of cricket and especially the new veterans’ initiative in South Africa.

“Club cricket plays a massive role in the success of cricket in our country and veterans cricket is bringing the older and wiser players back to the clubs to impart some knowledge to the up-and-coming young stars. We are very happy to be involved in this initiative.”
