Sri Lanka name Over-50 World Cup squad
Sri Lanka are the latest side to name their squad for the 2020 Over-50s Cricket World Cup.
It features a number of players from the 2018 World Cup. Former ODI player Marlon von Hagt scored two half-centuries in Sydney, while Roshan Ismail made the 2018 tournament team on the back of some very consistent bowling (12 wickets at 14.67).
Harry Nagendran was one of the quicker bowlers on show last year (6 wickets at 13.33), and Janaka Rambukwella is the only player to take a hat-trick in Over-50s internationals.
Among the newcomers to watch is Suranjith Dharmasena from the Colombo Masters Cricket Association, who is apparently a high-quality top-order batsman and a useful bowler. He played 28 first-class games in the late 1980s and early '90s, with a high score of 105 and best bowling of 4/32.
Another interesting selection is Noel Raymond, who represented Australia in their first-ever Over-50s tour, to the UK in 2017.
Sri Lanka’s first match is against Canada on March 11 at Western Province Cricket Club.
