VCASA to honour Archbishop Tutu life
The Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa (VCASA) mourns the loss of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The ‘Arch’ loved cricket and we, as Veterans Cricket, aspire to live up to his desire for a Rainbow Nation with the involvement of cricketers from various backgrounds in the leagues around the country.
The VCASA echoes the sentiments of Cricket South Africa’s acting chief executive, Pholetsi Moseki, who emphasised Archbishop Tutu’s contribution to the transformation and unification of cricket.
“There are just a handful of people who have made a greater contribution to our democracy, the reconciliation project and, indeed, the difficult times of transformation and the unification of sport and, in particular, cricket in South Africa, than the Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu,” said Moseki.
The Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa, sponsored by Evergreen Lifestyle, will dedicate the Over-50s Inter-Provincial Cricket Tournament to be held at the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg from 7-14 May to our beloved and much respected Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
