South Africa beat New Zealand by six wickets in the final of the inaugural Over-40 World Cup on Friday, 1 March 2024.
The match was played at Western Province Cricket Club's Wally Wilson Oval.
New Zealand Over-40 posted a final total of 155 all out in 42.2 overs. Seamers Dan Styer, Lundi Mbane and Pieter Booysen took two wickets each.
South Africa Over-40 replied with 156 for four in 37.4 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Werner Moolman hit 45 not out and opener Kyle Smit collected 33.
South Africa and New Zealand had beaten England and Australia, respectively, during the semi-final stage of the competition.
Captain Warren Dugmore was South Africa Over-40's top run-scorer at the tournament. He collected 220 runs in seven innings.
Mbane was South Africa Over-40's most prolific bowler. He took 14 wickets in seven matches.
The inaugural Over-40 World Cup was organised by the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa and International Masters Cricket.
